Anika Werk explores the contradiction between intimacy and loss of control in her photo series „Le vertige doux“ (The gentle dizziness). Intimacy presupposes trust, closeness and a sense of security, while loss of control is associated with uncertainty, unpredictability and letting go. These apparent opposites are mutually dependent and create a tension that becomes visible in her series. Through an abstract representation of the body in combination with associative images, she creates space for individual interpretations that can be perceived differently depending on personal experience. With this work, Anika Werk continues her series „La petite mort“.
